Stony Point to host event on gun safety for children

The Stony Point Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization is hosting an educational event on gun safety for children.

The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. July 9 at Stony Point Ruritan, located at 2835 Watts Passage Road in Albemarle County.

Albemarle County Crime Prevention Officer Steve Watson plans to speak about why children should never play with real guns, what children should do when they find guns and safe handling of a firearm under adult supervision.
